So the question arises on how to block the phone?
There are a number of different ways through which you can block the phone including a CPLC mobile block, PTA number to block mobile, online form, and others. But the most important thing that you need to know before you block the stolen phone is the IMEI number of that phone. What is IMEI?
IMEI is an International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI), a unique number for every mobile handset. If your mobile phone is stolen or lost then you can block the mobile’s IMEI number. The mobile network of the phone uses the IMEI number to identify the valid devices and thus it is possible to block stolen or lost mobile phones.
How to Get IMEI Number
The IMEI number of a phone can be found in the following ways.
- It is printed under the mobile phone’s battery
- It is there on the mobile phone box
- It is written on the warranty card of the mobile phone
- You can also check the IMEI number by dialing *#06# from the mobile phone
How to Report
In order to file a stolen mobile complaint and block the phone, there are various ways available through which you can do so. You can choose the best way according to your own convenience.
Block Phone through Email
Your mobile can be blocked by Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) if you send your complaint through an email. All you need to do is send your complaint along with the IMEI number of your phone to [email protected].
Block Phone through Fax
The CPLC also has a fax number where your stolen mobile complaint can be launched. You can get your phone blocked by sending a fax to CPLC at 021-35683336 along with the IMEI number of your mobile phone.
Block Phone through Call
One of the most popular ways to block your phone is through the call. You can call CPLC number, PTA number or on Police Madadgar number in order to get your phones. The numbers of these institutions are given below:

You will have to provide some basic information along with the IMEI number of your phone after which the mobile operators will be requested to block this IMEI on their networks.
Block Phone Online
With the evolution of technology, CPLC has made a CPLC online complaint center as well for all stolen and lost mobile phones. In order to block the phone online, you will have to follow the following steps.
Step 1: Visit the official website of CPLC i.e. www.cplc.org.pk
Step 2: Open the Mobile Theft Form that is available on the website
Step 3: Provide all the necessary information related to your mobile in the form including the IMEI number
Step 4: Submit the online complaint successfully
Once you have submitted it, you will be notified about the status of your report either through text, call, or email.
Check Online PTA record before Buying a Used Mobile Phone
One of the most common problems that people of Pakistan face when buying a used mobile phone whether the phone is stolen or not. Hence PTA has come up with a counter where people can check the used mobile phone IMEI in order to find out the status of IMEI.
To check your phone’s IMEI online, you can log on to www.dirbs.pta.gov.pk. You can also send an SMS to 8484 with the IMEI number of the device in order to check the status of the device.
